The sounds of crashing waves, warm tropical breezes 365 days a year, mesmerizing red, orange, purple and gold sunsets, one of Costa Rica's most spectacular views and an opportunity for you, as a pampered guest, to help preserve a national paradise -- this is the Palacio experience.
In 2001 the owner and architectural designer of the Palacio decided to open his thirteen bedroom, 10,000 square foot mansion to the public as a means of supporting Costa Rican university students who have shown exceptional interest and devotion to helping save some part of their complex ecosystems. The owner, Beau Daniel (or "Don Beau" as he is affectionately known by the workers, artists and locals) is donating 20% of all room rents to selected students and researchers needing grants to begin or continue laboratory and field work. With continued support by our faithful guests, Don Beau's 2012 goal is to supply $250,000 annually to scientific study. Guests at the hotel will be able to meet some of the country's devoted caretakers and visit research projects whenever possible.
We at the Palacio sincerely hope that you experience the "pura vida" and the sharing of nature that Don Beau has had while creating this unique architectural jewel. It is, after all, a sanctuary. Thank you for supporting Don Beau's dream -- the Palacio del Sol, an intimate encounter with nature.
