What to pack
Visitors to Palacio del Sol will experience the Costa Rican lifestyle -- informal and relaxed. We suggest that a tropical weight sports jacket or wrap be packed for more formal occasions. And always bring a swimming suit and shoes that are suitable for walking -- you'll be spending a lot of time outdoors.
Sporting gear, including scuba and snorkel equipment, can be rented. We suggest packing lightweight binoculars and a camera.
Always bring sunscreen to Costa Rica, where the tropical sun is surprisingly strong.
Climate
Temperatures vary little between seasons. The main influence on temperature is altitude. San José at 1150 m (3772 ft) has a climate which the locals refer to as the "eternal Spring." Average temperature ranges in San Jose are from 14 to 24 degrees Celsius (57 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit) in December to 17 to 27 degrees Celsius (63 to 81 degrees Fahrenheit) in May.
Sea level areas, like Playa Potrero, are much warmer, with the Pacific averaging over 21°C (70°F) at night and better than 30°C (86°F) during the day.
