Palacio del Sol was created by artists and artisans to provide a restful and meditative  environment for our guests, and to encourage the creative spirit in everyone who visits or works here. Costa Ricans call this "La Pura Vida" -- living in a calm, uncluttered manner.

To artists and writers
Beau Daniel, proprietor and architectural designer of the Palacio compound,  encourages artists, writers and others to use Palacio del Sol as a home base for creative endeavors. The Guest House offers the perfect atmosphere for painting and writing  while providing a sense of community and interaction when desired. Long-term rentals are available. Artist enquiries are welcomed. One-month resident artist scholarships are currently being planned for September to October green season months. Please consult with Palacio management.

Our community of artists
Mr. Daniel brought a community of artists to Palacio del Sol to contribute their talents to the design and functionality of the Palacio. Sculptor George Landry, painters Michele Martinez and Peg Baker, and visual artist Peggy Starborn drew on the natural beauty and cultural history of Costa Rica to embellish Palacio del Sol's already beautiful atmosphere.
Clay molds of the rare, native Quetzal, sculpted by Michele Martinez in the United States and transported to Costa Rica, underscore Palacio's tribute to nature (left).
